Our work with design is evidence-based and our consultancy is founded on a systematic collection of data on behaviour and space.
Our analyses are based on a collection of both quantitative and qualitative data. We use different anthropological and ethnographic methods such as observations, activity registrations, focused interviews, image registrations, design analyses, field research, and so on. We identify known and latent needs and carry out analyses on culture and identity. These make up the foundation for programming, area- and space analyses, and design of physical space. Our analyses give specific suggestions to function- and area division, optimisation of work-flow processes, density matrix analyses in relation to mutual placements in the physical environment, interaction diagrams seen in relation to the need for meeting facilities, and so on.
Since SIGNAL was founded in 2000, we have collected and analysed data from space- and behaviour studies for clients from the private as well as the public sector. The results from these studies are gathered in SIGNAL’s database which is the most extensive collection of key figures on space and behaviour in Denmark. Our strategic analyses ensure innovative and future-proof solutions as they give our clients new insight in latent needs and unfulfilled potential and resources.
In connection with an extensive building project at CAMPUS VEJLE, we have had a very positive and rewarding collaboration with SIGNAL during the summer of 2011. The task consisted of two main parts, namely to carry out a thorough needs analysis regarding the buildings and to come up with a visionary teaching concept for modern school buildings. Both tasks were solved in the best way possible.
